Rotary Club Palatine distributes 2022 allocations

During their March 3 award program at the Cotillion in Palatine, members of the Rotary Club of Palatine distributed checks to 30 organizations from the proceeds of last year’s Oktoberfest.

The club at Oktoberfest 2021, held September 17-19 in downtown Palatine, raised over $70,000, which it has now distributed throughout the community.

“That’s why I joined the Rotary Club of the Palatine,” club president Randy Klingner said. “When I see how we have helped the community, I realize that all the hard work we put in throughout the year is worth it.”

This year, the donations were divided among 30 different organizations, which serve the Palatine community that had contacted the Rotary Club of the Palatine for assistance. Donations ranged from $400 to $4,000 with an average amount of $2,400. The amount of the donation was determined by the allocation committee based on the need expressed in the request and the impact the donation would have on the community.

Some of the groups the Rotary Club of Palatine Foundation has donated to this year are Palatine Township Senior Center, Shelter, Inc., Partners for Our Community, The Bridge Youth and Family Services, Journeys the Road Home, St. Joseph’s Home for the Elderly , WINGS and Palatine Relay for Life from the American Cancer Society.

“We had a great Oktoberfest which helped the Rotary Club of the Palatine allocate funds for those in need within our community,” Klingner said. “It’s a great feeling to be part of an organization that can give back so much, especially when so many people have had to cut spending in recent years.”
