Padma Bridge is not only an engineering masterpiece but also a symbol of pride and dignity of Bangladesh and all the people of the country share this glory equally, said the Prime Minister’s Business Advisor ICT, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, on Facebook.

“The Padma Bridge towers majestically over the river scarred by one of the strongest currents in the world. Braving an array of challenges, we finally executed this self-funded project. It’s your hard-earned money and mine who contributed to this success,” said Joy.

He wrote that the monsoon is here and the Padma River will soon swell, the most treacherous only after the Amazon. Since independence, people across the southern region have been required to risk their lives for crossing the river all year round, he said. But this risky journey appears to be ending on June 26 as the Awami League government has brought people’s dream closer to reality, building a bridge to make their journey safer, easier, faster and hassle-free, a- he added. “It was beyond the imagination of the world that a developing country in South Asia could manage this masterpiece structure with its own fund,” he said, adding that the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s indomitable courage and vision made this possible. “Today, this success story from Bangladesh is acclaimed all over the world. The Padma Bridge, which awaits a grand inauguration on June 25, symbolizes the dignity of Bangladesh on the world stage,” he wrote. Joy said this bridge connects about a third of the land, tangled with rivers, to the capital. Therefore, it will catalyze Bangladesh’s local and international trade, he said, adding that in addition to transforming the economic base of around 50 million people in the southwestern part of the country, it will also ensure increase in national income. of at least 1.5%, a paradigm shift for the whole of Bangladesh. He said the future of Bangladesh depends a lot on this bridge. “Padma Bridge with my money, Padma Bridge for my country,” Joy concluded. Source: BSS AH
