LA PLATA, MD—Tony Covington, State Attorney for Charles County, announced that on Monday, July 8, 2019, Raymund Antoine Bradford, 42, pleaded guilty in Charles County Circuit Court, before the Honorable Justice Amy J. Bragunier, for armed robbery and Use of a firearm in the commission of a violent crime.
On March 21, 2018, officers responded to Drive In Liquors in Faulkner with the report of an armed robbery. Upon arrival, officers contacted the store owner, Pargat Mand, who was suffering from a gunshot wound to his arm. Mand was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
An investigation revealed that on the afternoon of March 21, Bradford entered Drive In Liquors with a bag of books and a gun pointed at Mand. Mand and Bradford were both walking behind the sales counter, where Bradford began to put money and cigarettes in the satchel. During this process, Bradford’s gun fired and a bullet hit Mand in the arm. Bradford continued to put cigarettes in the satchel at first, but then approached Mand and sprayed him with pepper spray in his face. Mand was then able to retire to an office in the store and close the door. Bradford fled the scene soon after but dropped a knife in front of the store.
During the investigation, the knife was subjected to DNA analysis, which identified Bradford as the suspect.
A sentencing date has been set for September 26, 2019. Bradford faces 40 years in prison.
