One of Apple TV’s most notable creations, The Morning Show, is finally making its return to the small screen with its third season set to debut on the streaming platform on September 13. Yes, you read that right – we finally have a release date for the 10-episode season, which will debut with its first two episodes and will be followed by one new episode every Wednesday until November 8.
Since its release in 2019, The Morning Show, which is a portrayal of the inner-workings of a fictional newsroom, has become the jewel in Apple TV’s crown, having won an Emmy, SAG award and Critics’ Choice award.
Here’s everything we know so far about the upcoming season.
Who makes up The Morning Show season three cast?
Not only are all of the cast from its sophomoric season returning, among them Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Billy Crudup and Mark Duplass, but the third series will welcome two newcomers too, Jon Hamm and Nicole Beharie.
Hamm is set to portray Paul Marks, a UBA executive, while Beharie will play UBA’s newest anchor, Christina Hunter. An additional newcomer, Tig Notaro, will also be introduced as part of the cast as Paul’s chief of staff, Amanda Robinson.
'I’m friendly with them, so that was like a homecoming for us,' Duplass told Variety at the June 26 premiere of his new movie Biosphere. 'You’d be surprised considering The Morning Show is a set full of massive movie stars everywhere, it could or should be maybe a tense thing, but it’s very laid back. I attribute that to Jen and Reese, who set a good tone. They’re good bosses. Honestly, when you have these group scenes, it’s just a party. It’s really nice.'
What is the plot of The Morning Show season three?
While the exact plot of The Morning Show’s third season is still a closely-guarded secret, it will carry on from where we left the characters at the end of season two where Alex’s (Aniston) producing partner Chip (Duplass), had convinced her to livestream the journey of her Covid-19 diagnosis and subsequent quarantine. While Alex’s co-anchor, Bradley (Witherspoon) continued to search for her missing brother alongside network executive Cory (Crudup), who in the final moments of the season, professed his love for her.
According to the official synopsis proffered by Apple TV, ‘This season, the future of the network is thrown into question and loyalties are pushed to the brink when a tech titan takes an interest in UBA. Unexpected alliances form, private truths are weaponised and everyone is forced to confront their core values both in and out of the newsroom.’
Has The Morning Show season four been confirmed?
Yes. The Morning Show received an early renewal for a fourth season, before the third had even aired. Aniston announced that the third season had wrapped filming on February 9 via an Instagram post which promised that there was 'so much more to come'.
