WEEK OF August 7 - 1 3, 2023

If your idea of work/life balance is your partner’s idea of straight-up workaholism, you’re due for a heart-to-heart. Fortunately, the starmap of Wednesday, August 9, could compel you to sit down and open up. The sweet smell of success is irresistible to you while the energizing Sun spends a month in Leo and your ambitious tenth house. Your all-or-nothing sign relishes the chance to throw yourself, body, mind and soul, into a passion project. And when your colleagues are backing you up, it’s like a dream come true. BUT unless you’re staunchly single and not even looking to date, there’s that little matter of the care and feeding of your relationship. When the radiant Sun throws shade at provocateur Uranus in your partnership realm on Wednesday, you could be handed an ultimatum. Before it gets to that point, hopefully you’ll notice the massive imbalance. Whether you take the initiative to address the problem or a certain someone pushes for a solution, this is the week to concede that some changes and compromises are in order. Avoid getting defensive or attacking and, instead, just listen to what the other person has to say. You can explain where you’re coming from later, but for now, hear them out as if they’re speaking the absolute truth. If you’re flexible and choose your battles judiciously, you can hash this out successfully. And if you’ve been keeping busy with work to sidestep a relationship matter, enough’s enough. Time to deal!

Should you launch your campaign for the C-suite or press pause and consult a career coach about what’s next? The answer might be “both” this week. Ever since July 22, when Venus went retrograde in Leo, and the Sun entered that sign the very same day, they’ve been coaxing you to focus on figuring out your strategy for professional progress. You tend to favor the “go big or go home” approach, but that kind of full-out ambition turns up the pressure—to the point where you can become paralyzed when your aspirations get overwhelming.

The Sun and retrograde Venus inch closer and closer to each other all week, finally meeting up on Sunday, August 13 for their inferior conjunction. That’s the once-every-18-months moment when Venus goes dark, vanishing from the evening sky and then returning (on August 18) as a morning star. On a symbolic level, you could feel an internal block budging, and it may turn out to be a plain old fear of failure.

Before you make your move, take a moment to envision your perfect work scenario, as if you were already living your dream. Would you work in an office? What would it look like? Who would your colleagues be—if anyone? Imagine “a day in the life” and describe it. Visualization is especially powerful when Venus is invisible. Once you’ve painted a picture in your head, consider what old stories you need to lay to rest. The fact is, Scorpio, you might not have been aiming high enough. Invest in sessions with a coach if you need a strategic sounding board or have struggled with low self-confidence. No one climbs to the very top of the ladder all themselves. Not even the strong-willed Scorpio!
